I needed to be able to switch between two amp heads – my Mesa Boogie Mark 5 Thirty Five, and the Orange OR15.
Enter the de Lisle Amp-Speaker Selector V1.
Basically, the switch gives me access to both amps, with the turn of the selector dial.
You can connect up to three amps.
I do have to manually plug the guitar cable into whichever amp I’m using.
If you’re wondering, the de Lisle is a passive box. It’s just routing signals, but it’s meant specifically for guitar amps. It would be surprising if there’s any noticeable coloration occurring while running signals through it.
In my recording setup, I use an iso cab outside the room. Both amps are routed to the de Lisle (the UA OX is involved too). Then the de Lisle sends the amp signal out to the iso cab. In this case, it’s a Grossman SG-Box. More on the SG-Box in another post.
As a side note – within the iso cab there’s a Shure SM57 dynamic mic, and a Lauten F357 condenser mic. Both mics are pointed strategically at a single Celestion Vintage speaker inside the iso cab. Guitar signal coming through the speaker is sent back through the mics to 500 series lunchbox preamps. The SM57 runs through a Neve 1073 LB, and the F357 runs through a LaChappel 583e. Lots of coloration choices.
Then through an Avid MTRX.
